Woman arrested in Mullingar after another rushed to hospital ‘with serious injuries’

A woman was arrested and charged in Mullingar after another woman sustained “serious injuries” last Friday evening.

The female, in her 20s, was rushed to hospital following the incident which happened at approximately 7.30pm.

Gardaí rushed to the scene on May 3 after receiving a call from a member of the public regarding the incident at an “exterior location” in the town.

The victim was brought to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar where she was treated for serious injuries.

Gardai said a second female (20s) was arrested in connection with the incident, and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the Co Westmeath area.

She has since been charged.

Gardaí stated they “received report and attended the scene of an incident which occurred at an exterior location in Mullingar, Co Westmeath on Friday, May 3 at approximately 7.30pm.

"The woman arrested in relation to this incident has since been charged and was scheduled to appear before Mullingar District court on Monday, May 6.”

Investigations are ongoing, according to gardaí.
