Limerick hurling star Cian Lynch is expecting twins with his girlfriend Dayna Slattery.

The pair, who have been together since 2022, took to Instagram on Monday to share the exciting news with a joint Instagram post.

They shared a photo of themselves in bed with Cian’s hand on his partner’s stomach as she held his wrist.

Captioning the post, the delighted couple wrote: “when 2 becomes 4," adding two blue heart emojis.

Fans and friends flocked to the comment section to congratulate Cian and Dayna on their announcement, including Today FM DJ Louise Cantillon, who’s married to Limerick captain Declan Hannon.

She wrote: "Nuacht álainn. Comhghairdeas libh." (Beautiful news. Congratulations).

Niamh De Brún-Reid, wife of Kilkenny hurler TJ Reid, chimed in, saying: "Congratulations," and including a heart emoji.

One person added: “Fabulous news, congratulations to you both and safe journey to your babies”.

And another said: “Ahh exciting times ahead congratulations to you all”.

Cian revealed last month that he and Dayna met the “old-fashioned way” and went for a swim and a walk in Lahinch on their first date, explaining: “There was no social media... I saw her, I went up to her. The rest is history.”

Speaking to Evoke, the 28-year-old said his other half is his biggest supporter and is “very understanding” when it comes to his hectic training schedule.

“Obviously, you have to go to work Monday to Friday you have to go train and you probably have a game at the weekend. So, you can't probably go away and do little things like weekends away and stuff at times,” he told the publication.

“I suppose the girlfriends know that at the end of the year, you probably have time to go away whether it's a week's holiday or a weekend together... The support that they give us is massive.”
